I finally (finally) finished the Dog Gone Cute quilt that I was making for one of my co-workers. And this also counts as the first quilt I’ve actually quilted myself, I think. I did the quilting with a walking foot, and went with freeform wavy lines horizontally across the piece. Here it is:
I do love how it came out, once it was washed and all crinkled up. The solids are Kona – I don’t remember WHICH red/wine that is – the prints are a variety. Some Color Theory, some Emmy Grace, some Tiger Lily, and Milk, Sugar, Flower for the ears. The pattern is “Dog Gone Cute” from Sew Fresh Quilts. For the moment (it’s Spring, and not really quilt weather so much), it’s living on the back of the couch in her living room. So I also got a picture of it “in situ,” if you will.
It’s nice that it goes well with either room, so she can use it wherever she likes.
I’m not so good at the finishing of projects, so I find it helps if I promise myself little rewards. For this finish, I allowed myself a new cozy mystery, and the new issue of Classic Sewing.
If anybody wants me, I’ll be curled up with my new book. Or maybe planning Summer dresses for my girls….
